As both Arianna and Giousto (of COS) was in town (Oslo) this week, we’ve thus far had an Occhipinti week. I find the 09 Il Frappato to be one of the more interesting wines around. Anywhere. A tad expensive, but if you compare the wine to a Burgundy or a mature nebbiolo, the price is not that high. There’s something very precise and pure about Arianna’s wines. And intriguing.

Sounds perfect, Tom.

I’ve been planning on searching out a new dolcetto. For years, we really enjoyed one by Bartolo Mascarello, but the last few vintages we tried were produced after he passed (and it’s been a few years) and they just didn’t match up to the earlier wines.

Finally, something I’m actually qualified to comment about… This curry laksa was crazy delicious, no two ways about it! Amazingly rich flavor with the perfect amount of heat… I can’t wait until you make it again!

We’ve been to Babbo twice and have liked it even more the 2nd time around. Sorry to hear about the most recent experience but I imagine the food was still great. Getting ready to make a reservation 1 mth out gets my anxiety going as I’m ready to hang up and hit redial, determined to get through the busy signal. Its quite the ordeal but well worth it when you are enjoying one of the best meals ever.
We’ve actually been late (gasp) once and will never do it again. We had to wait another 1.5 hrs for a table to become available for them to fit us in.
There are also walk in spots (I think 3 tables) downstairs if you come without a reservation but chances arent good let alone the ambiance upstairs is much nicer.

I had this wine and was very impress with it. This wine had an outstanding body great with food. Found also that they make a Cabernet that heard that is of the charts. found it in Summit nj that is not far from where I live at a reasonable price.

We live in Nice and the local restaurant, Cave de l’Origine, has a sommeliere [f?] who prides herself in having brilliant wines……… but not obvious expenive ‘crus’. This was beautiful – though at 15.5% the walk/meander home was fun!
